Drakensberg


Welcome to the Drakensburg. The Dutch named it "Dragon Mountain" and the Zulu people "Ukhahlamba". This Great Escarpment encloses the central South African plateau and stretches over 1000 km from the Eastern Cape, past Lesotho, Kwazulu Natal, Free State, Mpumalanga and ends in Tzaneen in the Limpopo Province.

The highest peak is Thabana Ntlenyana, at 3,482 metres (11,424 ft) and is within the are that borders with Lesotho.
